Chris Ferro is an experienced litigator and advisor whose practice focuses on helping public sector and private clients navigate complex legal, employment, and operational challenges. Drawing on a diverse professional background spanning government service, legislative work, economic development, and litigation, Chris brings a practical and strategic perspective to every matter he handles.
Chris begins every client relationship by taking time to understand not only the legal issue at hand, but also the broader operational and organizational impact the matter may have on the client. He works closely with clients to understand who they are, how their organizations function, and what outcomes are most important to them. By focusing on the bigger picture, Chris helps clients develop proactive solutions that minimize disruption and allow them to continue operating effectively while legal matters are addressed.
A significant portion of Chris’s practice involves advising clients on personnel matters, workplace disputes, and employment-related decision-making. He regularly assists clients with navigating sensitive employee issues, reducing workplace conflict, and implementing practical strategies that support productive and legally compliant work environments. Known for his responsiveness, credibility, and communication skills, Chris works to provide clients with peace of mind by keeping them informed without allowing litigation or conflict to overwhelm their day-to-day responsibilities.
Chris is particularly passionate about serving public sector clients and helping governmental entities operate efficiently and effectively. His background in state government and economic development gives him firsthand insight into the unique challenges facing municipalities, agencies, and public officials. Early in his career, Chris worked for former West Virginia Governor Bob Wise before serving with the West Virginia Senate Judiciary Committee during two legislative sessions. He later joined the legal staff of Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and served as Chief of Staff to Agriculture Commissioner Walt Helmick, where he handled a wide range of legal, legislative, budgetary, and human resources matters. Prior to returning to private practice, Chris spent four years focused on economic development with the Charleston Area Alliance.
Chris earned his J.D. from West Virginia University College of Law and his B.A. in Psychology, with honors, from West Virginia University. He is admitted to practice in West Virginia and the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia.
Outside the office, Chris enjoys hiking, camping, spending time with his sons, attending WVU sporting events, and serving as a West Virginia high school basketball official.
