John P. Fuller is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on defending correctional officers, law enforcement officers, governmental entities, and other clients in complex civil rights and governmental liability litigation. John has tried numerous cases to verdict in both state and federal courts throughout West Virginia, representing clients in matters involving use-of-force claims, wrongful death actions, governmental liability disputes, insurance coverage litigation, environmental claims, and business disputes.
A significant portion of John’s practice involves representing correctional officers and public employees who often have little familiarity with the legal process and are facing litigation for the first time. John understands the stress and uncertainty these cases can create, particularly concerns about career impact, job security, and personal reputation. Because of that, he prioritizes accessibility, responsiveness, and direct communication with every client he represents.
John frequently travels to correctional facilities and prisons to meet personally with clients, explain the litigation process, and provide reassurance during difficult situations. He takes pride in being approachable and available, making sure clients know they can reach him directly whenever questions arise. His practical guidance and strong bedside manner have helped him build lasting trust with clients navigating unfamiliar and high-pressure legal matters.
John enjoys the fast-paced and fact-intensive nature of litigation, particularly cases involving correctional institutions and inmate claims. He appreciates the challenge of analyzing complicated factual situations and developing efficient, strategic defenses for his clients.
John earned his J.D. from Ohio Northern University Claude W. Pettit College of Law and his B.A. from Marshall University. He is admitted to practice in West Virginia, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Outside the office, John enjoys spending time with his wife and two children and tries to play pickleball as much as possible.
